What is Matcha Green Tea Powder and How to use?
Matcha may have had its roots in Japan but thanks to its high effectiveness, it has grown in popularity all around the world.
Basically, matcha is the finely-ground powder of a type of green tea-leaves that are specially-grown and processed. In this post, we shall discuss how to make matcha cream, matcha smoothies as well as matcha cakes.
How To Make Matcha Ice Cream
First and foremost, we would recommend using culinary-grade matcha. Also, you may notice slight variances in the color concentration depending on how it was processed, but there is no need to fret as long as the flavor is intact. If unsure about the flavor, you may want to taste it a bit and watch out for a slightly bitter taste.
Once you have your culinary-grade matcha at the ready, look for the right appliances. We would recommend French Whip 8-inch and Cuisinart 1.5-Quart Frozen-Yogurt Ice-Cream Maker [white].

•Take a frozen bowl and place it on the base of your ice-cream maker before turning it on.
•Stir your chilled mixture properly and then pour it into the frozen bowl.
•Churn the mixture till you achieve a desired consistency [usually between fifteen and twenty minutes].
•Now, you can serve your matcha directly from your ice-cream maker. However, for a firmer consistency, you may want to transfer some ice cream into a container and then place it inside a freezer for a few hours.
For a stronger flavor, you can use up to three spoons of matcha. Also, to add a special flavor to it, you may want to top it with sweet red-bean mash as well as agar-agar.

More About the Ingredients
I.Though many matcha smoothies are made of milk, there is a growing number of people becoming intolerant to dairy products. When looking for a great alternative to milk, consider coconut milk or coconut cream. Not only does coconut taste better, but it is also thick enough and will blend well with your ripe bananas to bring out that perfect consistency you are looking for. If you are lucky enough to find the coconut milk-creamer that’s normally used with coffee, the better for you as it comes already packed with amazing flavors such as hazelnuts and French vanilla.
II.Some people prefer to have their smoothies plain while others love it sweetened. Should you opt for the sweetened version, nutritionists recommend going with liquid sweeteners because they will readily mix with the other ingredients, thereby making your work a lot easier. Some of the best liquid sweeteners you may want to experiment with include honey, agave nectar or simple syrup. Also remember to add little by little till you achieve your desirable taste.
III.For a more unique experience, you may want to experiment with various matcha powders. The only way to know what appeals best to your taste buds is to shop around for as many flavors as possible and try them out for yourself.
1.Gather all your ingredients.
2.Add matcha powder and banana in a blender.
3.Add milk or any dairy alternative as per your choice. Also add vanilla and your preferred sweetener.
4.Blend the mixture to a smooth and even consistency, occasionally stirring as needed.
5.Serve when ready.
Matcha is best when you consume it fresh. Therefore, ensure you do not buy the ingredients in bulk but instead, only buy what you can consume for a period of three months. How To Make Matcha Cake
Matcha cakes are known for their light but filling nature, not to mention their high nutritional value. Whether you are preparing a birthday party, wedding anniversary or any other informal gathering, a matcha cake idea is sure to steal the show.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1Hr 50 Minutes
Total time: 2Hours.
Yields: 12 servings.
Ingredients For The Cake
1 cup [or 2 sticks] of softened butter.
1 cup of granulated sugar.
1 cup of all-purpose flour.
3 large glasses.
2 teaspoons of cornstarch
2 tablespoons of food-grade matcha.
2 tablespoons of water.
Ingredients For Frosting
6 ounces of softened cream cheese.
2/3 cups of granulated sugar.
1 pinch of kosher salt.
2 cups of cold and heavy cream.
Ingredients For Garnish
2 tablespoons of powdered sugar.
teaspoons of food-grade matcha powder.
Start by making your cake. To do that, preheat your oven to a temperature of 350 degrees C. Next, you will need to grease 2 8-inch cake-pans using cooking spray and then line it using parchment paper. Add butter and sugar inside a large bowl and beat the mixture together by use of a hand mixer. Continue beating for around 3 – 4 minutes or until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Add the egg yolks to the bowl containing a mixture of butter and sugar, then beat till it is consistently combined.
Take a medium-size bowl and whisk together the baking powder, matcha powder, cornstarch and the flour. Then, gently fold the flour mixture into the bowl containing sugar and butter then combine until it is completely combined. If you need to loosen it even further, add water in little amounts [about 2 tablespoons in each case].
Take another medium-sized bowl and use a hand mixture to beat the egg whites till they form at the soft peaks. This should take anything between 3 and 4 minutes. Fold ¼ of those egg whites into your batter before folding the remaining egg-whites into batter.
Now prepare two pans and then divide the mixture between them. Bake until it is ready. This should take roughly 17 to 19 minutes. You can also test the readiness by inserting a toothpick inside the center and observe if it emerges clean. When ready, let it cool off completely.
While all the above happens, make your frosting. To do that, you will begin by adding sugar, cream cheese and salt inside a large bowl and beat using a hand-mixer. Gently add heavier cream and continue beating till it forms at the medium peaks. This normally takes about 5 minutes.
Now, assemble everything. Take a serving tray and place your first cake on it. Use half of your frosting to top this cake before placing a second cake above the frosting. Lastly, spread the remaining frosting over the second cake.
Lastly, take a bowl and whisk together powdered sugar and matcha. Using a sieve, dust this mixture over the top of the cake.
When making a matcha cake, remember that there are lots of ingredients to experiment with for frosting and garnishing needs. The procedure will change minimally depending on the ingredients you use in either case.
